The output performance of an infrared (IR) lamp differs from that of standard lighting and cannot be evaluated based on power consumption alone. Instead, it should be assessed by considering factors such as drive current, LED efficiency, IR wavelength, and actual radiant intensity. Therefore, the rated power of an IR lamp is defined based on the total rated power of the LEDs it contains, not on its actual output power.

For example, 12W IR lamp contains six 2W infrared LEDs, so it is classified as a 12W IR lamp. However, to reduce heat buildup during continuous use and extend the lamp's lifespan, we adopt a low-current, high-power configuration by increasing resistance and lowering the actual drive current. As a result, the actual output power is only 3.4W.

Our performance tests have shown that a 12W IR lamp operating at a reduced current (with an actual output power of 3.4W) delivers nearly the same IR illumination effect as one with a full 12W actual output. However, the lower-output version offers up to 10 times the lifespan. Thus, the “12W” rating is not misleading—it reflects the total power rating of the included LEDs, which is the standard practice across the IR lighting market.
