This is a passive adapter cable only and does not contain a video capture/conversion chipset. USB and IEEE 1394 FireWire use different communication protocols, so this cable cannot by itself capture or transfer DV video from a FireWire camcorder to a standard USB computer port.
It should only be used with equipment specifically designed to support this type of FireWire-to-USB connection.
